Solomons leadership opts for new estate

1:56 pm on 13 September 2007

The Cabinet in Solomon Islands has approved a multi-million dollar housing estate that will accommodate both the prime minister and his ministers.

The Solomon Star paper says the estate has been earmarked for a site in West Honiara, currently owned by a local businessman.

The lands minister, the Reverend Leslie Boseto, has also confirmed to the Solomon Star the government's intention to build its own housing estate.

But he says the site on which the estate is to be built is still to be sorted out with the owner.

For the project to start, the government must first repossess the land.
