More than half a million dollars of un-utilised funds from five departments in American Samoa are being diverted to cover over-spending by the parliament, or Fono ,and the governors office.

The Fono is to receive $US464,000 while the Governor's Office will get $US114,000 .

According to the proposed legislation to clear the transfer of funds, the money will be used to cover wages and office expense allowances for legislators for the two remaining pay periods in the current fiscal year.

The departments which will provide the money are Education, Public Health, Public Safety, Port Administration, Legal Affairs and the Summer Youth Programme.
