Fiji's president has ordered an inquiry into allegations of corruption and inefficiency in the country's magistracy.
President Iloilo has appointed a retired High Court judge, Justice John Connors, to head the one-man commission of inquiry.
Justice Connors has been tasked to make recommendations on the prevention and elimination of improper and inefficient practices in the magistracy.
He also has to make recommendations for the effective and efficient delivery of justice in the magistrate's courts.
Justice Connors will hold wide consultations and hear evidence throughout the country from the 12th of next month.
He says those giving evidence will have to do so under oath although their identities will be protected.
