Two American Samoa government vehicles purchased with federal homeland security funds have been returned to the local Department of Homeland
Security, with a third to be returned soon.
One vehicle was used by the governor, the other by the Office of Samoan Affairs.
The third vehicle is currently used by the lieutenant governor
Mike Sala, the acting director for the local homeland security department said the vehicles were being returned to help resolve some of the issues cited in the U.S Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General audit report this year
The report on grants to American Samoa during fiscal years 2002-2004, questioned over $1.7 million in spending
Federal homeland security funds for American Samoa were frozen in January.
