The chair of the RAMSI review team says he is disappointed that the Solomon Islands government has cancelled this week's scheduled talks in Honiara.

A team of the Pacific Islands Forum secretariat flew from Fiji for the meeting of the Enhanced Consultation Mechanism looking at reviewing the regional assistance mission.

Its chair, Peter Eafeare, who is Papua New Guinea's High Commissioner to Fiji, says the talks had been scheduled since early August.

Mr Eafeare says the group meets on a quarterly basis, and the last meeting was held on June the 14th.

He says all sides had missed a valuable opportunity to discuss matters of great importance to the future of the Solomon Islands people.
