Amercan Samoa and Samoa begin moves to joint fuel purchases

American Samoa and Samoa have both appointed representatives to work on a joint bulk purchasing agreement on fuel in an effort to keep fuel costs down.

Despite there being differences in the type of fuel required by the two Samoas, both sides agreed that there were benefits to be made by having a joint purchasing arrangement.

The two Samoas also agreed on the need to share information on developing

renewable energy alternatives.

For example, Samoa's progress with solar, wind and coconut oil, and research conducted in American Samoa on ocean thermal energy.
