Fiji military again warns politicians about making misleading statements

Fiji's military has warned political parties that they should not make negative and misleading statements against the interim administration.

Radio Legend reports that the warning comes ahead of the lifting of the Pubic Emergency Regulations on Saturday.

The military spokesman, Lt Col Mosese Tikoitoga, says there are reports that political parties are bent on saying things to the public that they have not been saying while the regulations are in place.

He says the regulations generate a lot of negativity and affect the economy and Fiji's ability to progress.

Lt Col Tikoitoga says they will not hesitate to bring back the emergency regulations if any political leader causes incitement by attacking the interim administration and the military.

The SDL party's director, Peceli Kinivuwai, said earlier that they would comment on the interim prime minister, Commodore Bainimarama's speech at the United Nations General Assembly after the Emergency Regulations are lifted.
