The All Blacks first five Daniel Carter has been named in the starting fifteen for Sunday morning's World Cup quarter-final against France in Cardiff, but his calf muscle injury will be monitored regularly between now and match day.

There are some surprises in the squad - Keith Robinson who made his first appearance at the tournament only last weekend has been selected ahead of Chris Jack as the locking partner for Ali Williams.

The midfield back combination is Luke McAllister and Mils Muliaina, and the All Blacks leading try scorer in test matches Doug Howlett has missed out on the squad altogether, with Joe Rokocoko and Sitiveni Sivivatu starting on the wings.

The starting fifteen is : 15-Leon MacDonald, 14-Joe Rokocoko, 13-Mils Muliaina, 12-Luke McAlister, 11-Sitiveni Sivivatu, 10-Daniel Carter, 9-Byron Kelleher, 8-Rodney So'oialo, 7-Richie McCaw (captain), 6-Jerry Collins, 5-Ali Williams, 4-Keith Robinson, 3-Carl Hayman, 2-Anton Oliver, 1-Tony Woodcock.
