The multi-national phone company, Digicel, which is fighting attempts to shut it out of the Papua New Guinea mobile market, has had an injunction against it in Solomon Islands extended.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation says the original injunction December last year was against Digicel Pacific Limited while the extension in the High Court covers other members and associates of the Digicel Group.

In August, Solomon Telekom had complained to the High Court that agents and associates of the Digicel Group were trying to go around the court injunction.

In PNG at the weekend the chairman of Digicel flew in to speak with the Government which is considering removing its licence after the mobile company caused a boom in phone use and state owned PNG Telikom raised fears about the impact on its business.
