American Samoa's rate of inflation for the third quarter of 2007 was measured at 4.4%, an increase of 1.3% percent over the rate of inflation for the second quarter.
The biggest increase was recorded in the housing group with a 4.6% increase in the costs of household supplies, construction materials and electricity bills.
The transportation group also jumped 3.5% due to the climb in petrol prices and cost of motor vehicle parts.
The food group also recorded a 2.5% increase due to increases in the cost of meat, fish, fruits and vegetables and other food items.
