The Senate Select Investigative Committee in American Samoa has issued subpoenas for government documents pertaining to the scrap metal contract awarded to Hong Kong-based Good Year Corp.

Samoa News reports the subpoenas resulted from concerns raised by two local companies.

T&T Recycling and Pacific Enterprise Incorporated lodged a complaint with the Senate president two weeks ago, who then referred it on to the investigative committee.

The subpoenas were issued on Friday to the Department of Commerce and the American Samoa Power Authority.
