Housing for victims of Solomon Islands tsunami behind schedule

The building of houses for the victims of the April tsunami disaster in Western Province of Solomon Islands is behind schedule.

The Premier of Western province, Alex Lokopio, voiced his anger at the decision of the cabinet to to allocate over two million US dollars of aid money for local politicians to manage the reconstruction.

Steven Harries, the New Zealand Manager for World Vision working in Solomon, has recently been to to the Western province

"Some people are still in tents but the majority of those affected people are living under tarpaulins which are supported by bush materials. And a lot of them still living in camps as well."
