Fiji lawyer hopes coup case will be heard soon

The Fiji lawyer working on Laisenia Qarase's challenge to his ousting from power is hoping the case can be heard sooner than planned.

The case has been put off until March next year.

Lawyer, Tevita Fa, says the QC employed by their side introduced new aspects to the case and after disagreements between the two legal teams it was decided to start all over.

But Mr Fa says his clients are concerned by the delay and want a judgement before any elections are held:

"If we don't get this thing moving, if we don't get a decision in our favour, the interim government is going to play up with everyone in Fiji on the election."
