Calls for American Samoa Congressman to seek alternative energy technology

12:13 pm on 17 October 2007

The American Samoa Senate has called for Congressman Faleomavaega Eni to

seek alternative energy technology for American Samoa.

Senate President Lolo Moliga says alternative energy should help ease the cost of electricity.

He says the Territory cannot hope to attract investment unless it engages in the critical process of building an economical and efficient infrastructure.

Lolo told Faleomavaega in a letter that one of the critical elements of the economic infrastructure system is the cost of basis utilities.

He says that while fuel cost does cause the upsurge in the cost of electricity, the efficiency of the operating organization can help neutralize and minimize the cost change in favor of the customers.
