Samoa training course for bank boards of directors

11:12 am on 19 October 2007

Members of American Samoa's Development bank board of directors are attending a training course in Apia designed to extend their knowledge on their roles in managing finances.

Members of the Samoa Development Bank's board of directors are also attending the one week workshop.

Organisers of the course say it's the first time directors in a government financial institute from the neighboring US Territory have attended such training.

The CEO of the Institute, Seali'imalietoa Elisara, says the same training can be extended to board of directors in other Pacific island countries such as Fiji and Tonga to better equip them with knowledge on how to manage their companies and corporations.
