Landowning tribes agree to allow Bina Harbour development in Solomon Islands

Solomon Islands landowner tribes who are claiming ownership of Bina Harbour in Malaita Province have signed a resolution to settle a dispute over a land development plan.

The dispute was over a plan to develop Bina Harbour into an international seaport and commercial center in the province.

The resolution was signed in Auki and is expected to pave the way forward for the development of the area.

It will allow tribes settle their differences through appropriate avenues within the next 30 days with appropriate house of chiefs.

The resolution was reached after a week long consultation with landowners in Auki.
