There has continued to be a good turnout in voting on Tokelau's referendum.

Out of the nearly 400 registered in the first two atolls to vote, virtually everyone has cast their ballot.

From Nukunonu, Philippa Tolley reports.

"The third and final atoll of Atafu will cast its vote today and an outcome to the referendum on whether Tokelau will become self-governing in free association with New Zealand will be known later today. The turn out on the first two atolls to vote has been nearly 100 percent but less than half the postal votes have been returned. So far leaders have expressed strong confidence that the question will be supported this time. After the outcome is known a Fono or Parliament will be called to discuss the results."
