Over 100 new workers have been hired by COS Samoa Packing in American Samoa under the new guest worker permit law designed to help the two canneries hire workers from neighboring Samoa.

Samoa Packing hopes to get these workers on the production line.

The cannery has been advertising for an additional 200 workers to meet production and set up two recruiting stations on the main island of Tutuila.

At StarKist Samoa, the largest cannery in the territory, a total of 96 applications is pending for approval at the governor's office.
