Solomons Parliament likely to face another no confidence motion next month

8:11 pm on 29 October 2007

The Solomon Islands Parliament is to meet in just over two weeks with further prospects of a vote of no confidence in the government of Manasseh Sogavare.

Parliament will meet for the third time this year from November 15th.

The agenda is yet to be announced but this session is usually given over to the national budget for the coming year.

Our correspondent says that the Opposition MP for Small Malaita, William Haomae, is again expected to try to move a motion of no confidence in the leadership of Mr Sogavare.

In August the Speaker, Sir Peter Kenilorea, ruled that a motion from Mr Haomae, which came just a week after an earlier unsuccessful motion, could not go ahead.
