Interim ministers in Fiji's current administration will have to resign within two months if they want to stand in the March 2009 general elections.
Radio Legend reports that this has been confirmed by the interim prime minister, Commodore Bainimarama.
Commodore Bainimarama says he will not allow any interim ministers to remain part of the cabinet if they wish to stand for the elections.
He says he does not want a repeat of the situation in 2000 when interim ministers appointed after the Speight coup took advantage of their positions and campaigned for election using state resources.
