Two of the notable names missing from the Samoa sevens squad to compete in the opening two tournaments of the 2007/08 IRB Sevens World Series are Mikaele Pesamino and Ofisa Treviranus.

Pesamino was the leading try scorer in last year's Series and was nominated for the IRB Sevens Player of the Year award while Treviranus now plays for Irish province Connacht.

The series kicks off in Dubai this month and then heads to South Africa next month.

Lolo Lui is the only member of Samoa's World Cup squad to make the Sevens team.

Samoa won the Plate in Dubai last year.
