Papua New Guinea's Central Bank is issuing new top quality bank notes in an effort to prevent and make it easier to spot counterfeit ones.

Brand new 20 kina notes were launched last week at Parliament House.

On the front of the new bank notes are the Parliament House and the National Crest of PNG, and on the back it depicts a head of a boar, a toea arm band from the Central province and a traditional necklace.

The National newspaper reports the new notes started circulating in Port Moresby this week.
