NZ mission in Samoa explores tourism opportunities

2:48 pm on 8 November 2007

Real estate, tourism and exporting organic oils are among the interests of a group of New Zealand based Pacific Island businesspeople who are in Samoa this week to find out about new markets.

The group is led by the Pacific Islands Trade and Investment Commission, or PITIC.

One of the entrepreneurs, Fatu Fuatavai, who owns the Airport Garden Hotel in Auckland, says he is considering to set up hotels or resorts in Samoa.

"I have been looking for more for a number of years. I saw this mission as another opportunity to come out and explore, keeping an open mind. I have my eye on a couple of things."

The business people are also interested in importing motor scooters, in IT and in construction.
