New Caledonian border police have refused entry to two Australian cruise ship passengers because they were blacklisted for paedophilia.

Noumea's daily newspaper, Les Nouvelles Caledoniennes, says the two men from Perth were classified as possible re-offenders and put on an plane to return to Australia.

The action follows improved regional cooperation through the South Pacific Law Enforcement Extranet.

Last month, police in New Caledonia deported an Australian man convicted on multiple counts of raping minors in Australia.
