Sacked Solomon Airlines financial controller takes legal action in High Court

12:05 pm on 15 November 2007

The sacked Solomon Airlines financial controller filed a case in the High Court yesterday challenging his purported dismissal by the Investment Corporation of Solomon Islands, or ICSI.

In his dismissal letter, the corporation alleges that Baoro Koraua breached civil aviation safety regulations.

The SIBC reports the ICSI is the majority shareholder in the airline.

Mr Koraua is asking the Court to declare that the Investment Corporation had no power to dismiss him and that he is still employed.

He is also suing the corporation for damages.

Mr Koraua says that his dismissal was a result of his efforts to stop unauthorized and unnecessary expenditure by senior management.
