Two Samoan companies left in bid to buy public broadcaster

Reports from Samoa say bids by two local companies are the only ones made to buy Samoa's public broadcaster.

Radio Polynesia Limited and Samoa Quality Broadcasting have made bids to buy Samoa Broadcasting Corporation which is being privatised.

Radio Polynesia is a broadcasting company currently operating four FM radio stations while Samoa Quality Broadcasting is a newly established company that includes some senior staff of the Samoa Broadcasting Corporation.

A source within the finance ministry says the privatisation process is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

But an official says it is possible that if bids are too low, the planned sale will be readvertised.
