Former Fiji Sports Council official sought on corruption charges

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption says it has sufficient evidence to lay corruption charges against a former senior executive of the Fiji Sports Council.

Radio Legend says the charges are expected to be laid within the next few days.

This has been confirmed by a spokesman for the commission, Semi Koroi, who says they have found several instances of alleged corrupt practices and abuse of office involving the former senior executive.

The executive is believed to be overseas but Mr Koroi says as soon as the person is within reach, they will interview the person and lay charges.

Earlier this year Commission investigators seized a large number of documents from the Sports Council offices in Suva and sent the executive home.
