American Samoa's Congressman Faleomavaega has disputed a statement by Senate President Lolo Letalu Moliga that the US government is not doing enough to help economic development in the country.

According to the congressman the US is pouring $1 billion dollars into American Samoa every seven years.

He says only the Fono and the Governor's Office can explain how this amount of funding is not enough for a territory of 68-thousand people.

Mr Faleomavaega says the real problem is not a lack of federal funds but a lack of proper management and accountability of those funds.
