Unity March in CNMI seeks to unite community

11:48 am on 4 December 2007

A march to protest various legislation in Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Islands hopes to unite people of different ethnicities, religions and occupations.

Organizers are inviting people to march in protest against the new local labour law, and to express support for the extension of federal immigration law to the CNMI.

Protestors are also calling on the U.S. Congress to grant improved status to long-term alien residents in the Commonwealth.

As a symbol of peace and hope, people have been asked to wear white to the Unity March on Saipan, on December 7.
