A New Caledonian court has sentenced a man to a 15-year jail term for killing a Japanese tourist in 2002.
Antoine Kohnu was found guilty while his brother Ambroise Kohnu was acquitted.
The body of the badly beaten Japanese woman was found on a rock at a beach in the Ile of Pines.
Lawyers for the two men have denounced the investigation and say an appeal will be lodged against the jail sentence.
