Red Cross assists American Samoan flood victims

Families affected by the recent flooding in American Samoa have sought help from the American Red Cross.

Flooding last week led to some families having to leave their homes and seek shelter.

Because of the surge in people asking for help, the local Red Cross is appealing to the public for donations to help it serve families in need of basic necessities such as clothing and food.

The Red Cross manager, Paula Horn, says they've assisted families in Pago Pago, Laulii, Onenoa and Fagaalu since last week.

"People are still calling in and we have several today to go in and inspect and assess their homes."

Paula Horn says even though the rain has stopped, mudslides are still a problem.
