Further legal discussion ahead of trial of American Samoa's Lieutenant Governor and a senator

12:00 pm on 17 December 2007

Attorneys for American Samoa's Lt. Gov. Ipulasi A. Sunia, and Senator Tulifua Tini Lam Yuen and federal prosecutors are attempting to work out so called "discovery issues" before discussing a trial date.

Discovery is the gathering of information, such as facts, documents, or testimony before a case goes to trial.

The two men are charged with conspiracy, fraud, bribery and obstruction of agency proceedings related to non bid contracts awarded to companies they owned.

The federal court in Washington D.C. has scheduled another status conference hearing on Jan. 25th.
