There's a flurry of business going on in Bulolo in Papua New Guinea due to the increasing activities in the Hidden Valley and Wafi mines.

The National newspaper says the alluvial mining sector has been active and this involved about 500 miners registered with the Bulolo Gold Miners Association alongside an undetermined number of unlisted miners.

Development in the coffee industry has also been noted with increase in the number of coffee growers trading their produce.

Meanwhile, the area's shopping centre has been experiencing good business lately, and most of the operators are undertaking store renovation and expansion.

District business development officer Jesse Strata noted that the increased mining activities had spurred consumption of goods among the people living in and around Bulolo.
