The Fiji Retailers Association president, Himmat Lodhia, says the absence of Christmas bonus payments for workers this year has seen a bleak business trend for most retailers.
He told the Fiji Times that it appeared people did not have extra money for non-essentials and gifts.
He says its further aggravated by the lack of the visiting friends and relatives clientele due to the lack of flights and expensive fares.
