2:15 pm on 21 December 2007

The To Tatou Ai'a Party in French Polynesia has deferred a planned meeting to release the list of its candidates for next month's early general election.

The meeting was to be held tonight but has been delayed until the end of the month.

The party had its founding Congress last weekend and chose a former president, Gaston Tong Sang, as its leader.

It said that it didn't want to release lists and strategies now as the rivals party had not done so either .

However, Mr Tong Sang told local television who will be the heads of the various electoral lists, one of which he will lead himself.
