The District Court in Samoa has lifted the name suppression order for an assistant police commissioner who is facing five charges including three of indecent assault.

Moto'otua Tiatia was charged by police in October after two police women had filed complaints of attempted rape.

He has entered a not guilty plea to all five charges.

The decision by judge, Tauiliili Harry Schuster, to lift the name suppression order was because of the huge public interest in the case.

The case has been adjourned to the New Year.
