The Kiribati government has given their national airline Air Kiribati the green light to buy two Twin Otter planes from Canada, at a cost of three-point-three million US dollars each.

The Otters which will replace the aging Chinese made Y-12 plane and Spanish CASA aircraft, will be used for domestic services.

The Air Kiribati CEO, Baraniko Baaro, says the Otters which will carry more passengers and cargo will also save the airline in fuel costs compared with the older models.
