The Deputy Police Commissioner in Solomon Islands, Peter Marshall, is calling on people to behave appropriately during New Year's Eve celebrations after a number of arrests over the weekend.
The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation says police in Honiara detained a dozen people on Friday and Saturday night for alcohol related offences.
A number of the alleged offences related to the illegal home brew, kwaso.
Mr Marshall, said that an operation targeting anti-social behaviour will continue into the New Year.
