Fiji floods pass in the village of Nabuna

11:06 am on 4 January 2008

The worst of the anticipated flooding has passed for the more than 300 people living in the village of Nabuna in Tavua Fiji.

Yesterday there were expectations that the next high tide would force the rising waters through the homes of at least 63 homes on the banks of the Tavua river.

But a police spokesman in Tavua says the flood waters have receded and while it's still raining they expect that to clear.

However, one villager says most of their plantation has been destroyed in this latest flood.
