The government in American Samoa has increased its monetary contribution to the 10th

Pacific Arts Festival organizing committee.

The committee announced last year that the

government was contributing $US1.5 million to assist with preparation of the festival, which runs from July 20-Aug 2.

However, the governor has informed the Fono leadership that the government's contribution has increased by $1 million to $2.5 million.

According to the governor $1.5 million is to assist

with logistics, such as accommodation and

transportation and the extra $1 million to fund the food voucher programme to feed the expected 2,000 participants.

The government's contribution is funded under the $20 million loan it received from the government Employees Retirement Fund.
