Fiji interim regime reshuffle sees four new members

2:45 pm on 7 January 2008

Fiji's new interim cabinet minister Tom Ricketts says he is ready to take up his new role to move Fiji forward.

Mr Ricketts is the incoming minister for Industry, Tourism, Trade and Communications in a reshuffle which has seen the departure of nine interim administration members.

He says he is quietly confident he has the expertise needed for the job.

"I've been a banker, I've worked for a couple of banks in Fiji and also worked for the insurance industry and also the oil industry and I have a fair experience in the commercial world and I'll be using that experience to try and get things going and moving forward."

He will be sworn in today with Jiko Luveni, who takes on the Health, Women and Social Welfare portfolio, Filipe Bole the new minister for education, National Heritage, Culture and Arts, Youth and Sports, and Timoci Lesi Natuva, the new minister for Works and Transport.
