Task for Fiji murder plot accused's lawyer now preparation

The laywer for the New Zealand businessman charged with conspiracy to murder Fiji's interim Prime Minister and two Cabinet members says he will begin to prepare for what's likely to be a long and robust trial.

Prosecutors allege Ballu Khan is the main instigator and financier in the plot.

His lawyer, Peter Williams QC, says Mr Khan is still unwell from the beating he received when he was arrested in November, but is glad to be bailed to his home.

He says he'd still like to see Mr Khan receive medical treatment in New Zealand but this doesn't seem likely with a trial pending.
