The Cooks Islands Prime Minister, Jim Marurai, says if any minister is to be sacked it'll be his responsibility to do that.
Local media report say the Democratic Party national executive was due to see the prime minister in order to ask him to sack his foreign minister, Wilkie Rasmussen.
Mr Marurai says he only learned of the national executive's move through the local media.
"The message came through the Cook Islands News that they wanted me to sack Minister of Foreign Affairs, to me that's not their responsibility, not their duty I alone can sack any minister."
The Prime Minister says no-one from the national executive has been to see him yet.
