Price of flour in Fiji to increase for third time in five months

The price of flour in Fiji is to increase for the third time in five months.

The Fiji Times reports that the Prices and Incomes Board announced that the increase was owed to the rising price of imported wheat.

It says wheat price increases are driven by strong demand against a shrinking harvest output and a severe drought that directly affected Australian wheat production.

The Consumer Council of Fiji says it is a global phenomenon because imported flour is not taxed.
