Flood warnings in Fiji

11:27 am on 28 January 2008

The Nadi Weather Office has warned people living in low lying areas in Fiji to take precautions as heavy rainfall is predicted for today, which could cause flash flooding.

Duty Weather forecasters say a tropical depression was located 20km West-North-West of Cikobia earlier this morning.

The system is moving South-West at 15 kilometers per hour.

The Fiji Village news quotes forecasters as saying the tropical depression is slowly developing and is expected to form into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.
