PNG government tells Telikom to improve performance

The Papua New Guinea Government has told its own telecommunication company Telikom that it needs to improve its management and operational practices.

The Communication and Information Minister, Patrick Tammur ,said while the Government wanted to transform Telikom through reformations in the telecommunication industry it wanted the organisation to be economically viable.

He told The Post Courier newspaper the Government was banking on the Independent Public Business Corporation to transform the telecommunication company into a "robust and sustainable business".
