50 families in Fiji's flood-stricken Ba and Rakiraki have been assisted by the country's Red Cross.

Seven people have died and buildings were flooded after cyclone Gene struck the country.

Fiji Times reports the affected families have received tarpaulins, blankets, water containers and cooking sets.

The Red Cross says the cost of relief operations so far is 30,000 dollars.

There are still areas in Fiji that are without power and illnesses, such as diarrhea have started to emerge.
