RAMSI to develop new stragies in Solomon Islands

6:36 am on 11 February 2008

The Regional Assistance Mission and the Solomon Islands government are to formulate a strategy to implement the new government policy.

The Acting Special Coordinator, Jonathan Austin, released details while talking about a recent report released by the Centre for Independent Studies in Australia.

The report had criticized what it terms as RAMSI's lack of focus on Rural Development.

He said the new government's policy is rural advancement and so RAMSI has to develop a plan to work with the government, but still stay within its mandate.

Mr Austin says the discussions will be between senior government officials and RAMSI.
