Japanese professional baseball player is suing a Saipan resort

A Japanese professional baseball player is suing a Saipan resort for injuries he received when the wooden deck he was standing on collapsed.

Mr Taniguchi has played in Japan for the Yomiuri Giants and in the United States for the New York Mets.

The Saipan Tribune reports that Kouichi Taniguchi is suing Kan Pacific Saipan Ltd., the owner of Marianas Resort and Spa, for damages for pain and suffering and emotional anxiety resulting from his injury.

The newspaper reports that while Taniguchi was standing on a wooden deck, it deck collapsed under him and he allegedly fell several feet to the ground.

his lawyer, Douglas Cushnie, says as a result of the collapsing deck, Taniguchi suffered various cuts, bruises, and ligament tears.

He says he incurred medical, hospital and rehabilitation expenses, and lost income.
