Talks are underway between French Polynesia's pro-autonomy parties in a bid to form a majority for the next five years.

The weekend election left To Tatoa Aia coalition two seats short of an absolute majority.

Walter Zweifel reports.

"The meeting now underway followed an ultimatum by the Tahoeraa Huiraatira leader, Gaston Flosse for top level talks to be held between the leaders but he has sent his deputy Edouard Fritch who is locked in negotiations with Gaston Tong Sang of the To Tatoa Aia. This also comes amid a new probe into alleged misuse of funds by a Territorial agency under the auspicious of a top To Tatoa Aia politician, who claims it's a political move. Mr Tong Sang who is also under investigation in another case, says the Judiciary's actions have no bearing in the coalition talks."
